Melissa will speak to “Leading with Empathy and Self-Compassion” in June 27th in-person Community of Practice Event with the Sioux Empire chapter of the Project Management Institute.  In her time with us, she will share how shame is the intensely painful feeling or experience of believing that we are flawed and unworthy of love or respect. The antidote to shame is empathy and self-compassion. Empathy and self-compassion are skills that can be taught and require practice.

In this talk, Melissa will discuss and help everyone:

  • Differentiate between the four self-conscious emotions: shame, guilt, humiliation, and embarrassment.
  • Understand that empathy and self-compassion are skills that can be taught and practiced.
  • Explain why practicing self-compassion is a pre-requisite for extending empathy.
